Jeffrey Rayport is a Harvard Business School professor. He is also the founder and chairman of Marketspace, Based in Boston and member of Monitor Group by Michael Porter. I met him this morning @ Asia Business Leaders Forum 2005 at Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore.
His presentation this morning was very interesting. He said that today's landscape needs much better customer interface model. But unfortunately, you cannot rely only on technology alone to handle it. Technology is about efficiency, but people are good for effectiveness especially in touching the heart of customers.
So Jeffrey said, if u do hybrid (technology plus people), you will achieve optimal result.
Conclusions?
Efficiency (technology) and effectiveness (people) means productivity (hybrid)

I once read a comment made by Al Ries (or is it Jack Trout?) about this marketspace hype made by Jefrey. In short, they "condemned" the founder of marketspace because they feel that consultant is only trying to "steal your watch and tell you the time".
Interesting view I tell you (because they themselves is a consultant).
